Welcome to Photoshop Tutorial Thursday!

Hello lovely,

I hope you have been enjoying all of the Chatty Tuesday videos lately, I’ve been working so hard on giving you my absolute best – I hope you can tell!

What I love most about Chatty Tuesdays is the consistency and regularity of it all. You know that every Tuesday there will be some sort of inspirational video waiting for you right here on the blog (or in your inbox if you are awesome enough to be a subscriber!).

Today I would like to welcome you to the very first Photoshop Tutorial Thursday!

Photoshop Tutorial Thursday is all about sharing the “secrets” of my editing techniques – I hope you enjoy it!

Today’s tutorial can be found underneath the image:

Step One: I pieced together all of the images I took to change the image into a square shape. I did this by using layer masks!

Step Two: I used “Beauty Mask” to clean up the skin, and I added pink eyeshadow to make her eyes stand out.

Step Three: I then used “CONTOUR” to add definition to the edges of the image and to her face and body.

Step Four: I used “She’s So Lucky” on just her body through the use of layer masks.

Step Five: I used “Niagara Blue” on everything but her body using layer masks.

Step Six: To boost the colours I used one of my favourite Photoshop Actions, “Sweet and Dreamy”, from The Inspired Store.

Step Seven: I added more blue to the top right of the image and got rid of the distracting bright line behind her using the clone stamp tool.

Step Nine: I used “Like A Painting” at a low opacity to add dimension.

Step Ten: As always I used “Alex’s Sharpy” to sharpen the image at the end of my editing. This really adds beautiful definition and helps the image stand out.

I hope you enjoyed this week’s Photoshop Tutorial Thursday, and I look forward to seeing you all again next week :) If you have any suggestions for an episode feel free to leave it in the comment section below!

Big hugs!
xoxo

This may seem like a silly question, but are these actions used on Photoshop Elements?

I love it! Next time though, could you do a tutorial explaining more in detail of the first step you did of making it a square image? I would really love that! Thanks Alex for all that you do!

    This Tutorial Tuesday sounds interesting!
I guess I will now be waiting for it every Tuesday because you taught me some great things yet.
The kind of Tutorial that I think would be interesting is one about how exactly this expanding works for you (have you photographed everything around you or was it more about copy and paste things that were already in your photo?). Because I just started expanding photos some days ago and I find it easy on some images but incredibly hard on others and a tutorial like that would sure help. :)

Whenever I said Tuesday, I meant Thursday ;)
And I agree with Rachel, videos or more fun! But I guess it’s also more time consuming to do one…

    Hi Alex-

Can you explain how to turn your photo into a square shape from a portrait orientation? How do you do that? Thanks! xoxo
