Before &&& After

Photoshop is such a huge part of what I do as an artist, and such a wonderful tool. I thought I’d share my process to edit this photo with you. Firstly I did some basic touch up editing, getting rid of the dust spots etc.. Then I used “Red Velvet” (of the Confidence Collection) at 100% on the edges, and a lower opacity of “Red Velvet”  (of the Confidence Collection) on the centre of the image (using layer masks). Then I used “Scarlet Love”  (of the Confidence Collection) at 75%, then “Boom Boom Pow”  (of the Confidence Collection) at 23%. All of these actions were created by myself out of pure inspiration and are available for you to add your own creativity to your images here.

I hope you enjoyed this Before and After :)

    I have a small question, how do you manage to use an action on the edges and after use it on the centre???? Can you give further information on that???? By the way, your pictures are gorgeous!!!

    Thanks,

    Hi Pascale!

    Great question. What I do is firstly press “play” on the action I then merge all layers (shift + command + E) and delete the action file underneath. I then use a layer mask on the merged layer so that only the edges are showing. I then press “play” on the action again, and add a layer mask to the action folder itself (which is now on top of the merged layer) so that only the center is showing. I can then adjust the opacity on both layers according to what looks best – maybe it looks best with the edges at 100% and the center at 50%, or maybe the other way around. It just gives me more flexibility.

    Another (much easier) way to do this, is to press “play” on the action. Add a layer mask to the action folder. Use your brush tool at an opacity of 100% on the outside, and your brush tool at 50% opacity on the inside. It is easier this way, but I prefer the first way as it tends to make me feel like I have more power and flexibility even though I probably don’t :P

    I hope that helps! If you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to ask! And if you want I could even do a tutorial to show you how I do it.

    Big hugs
    xoxo

    so purty! This is a lot like the pictures that my husband and I have been looking at to blow up and hang in our living room! We’re also in love with some crashing waves, waterfalls, and crazy sunset pictures from kauai.
