Day 8,306 of my life. ”Crossroads” Read more about this photo here.
There’s something about the “right here right now” in creation. There’s something to be said about spontaneity, just rolling with what happens. I can come up with a theme, a concept, a location. But there’s no planning how the light will shine, there’s no planning how the feelings will all come together on the day, there’s no planning where the wind will blow or if everything will come together all at once. It’s spontaneity. It’s luck. It’s beauty. It’s carefully executed guess-work. It’s a calculated roll of the dice. I know what I’m doing behind the camera, but being behind the camera does not allow me to play God. I can’t control every single thing. My job is to bring together components of what I feel would make a beautiful photograph and then try to locate the moment that engulfs the most exquisite mixture of all these components so that I can capture it on camera.
My job is carefully executed guess-work. It’s a calculated roll of the dice. And I love it.
