Personal: Note to self

I know that sometimes you don’t feel very creative, and that sometimes you don’t feel like an artist at all.I know that sometimes it’s hard. You have your to-do list in front of you and you don’t even know where to start. I know that you feel discouraged. I know that you feel to give up. I know that you feel so many steps behind everyone else. I know that you feel like it’s impossible to catch up with the greatness already out there in the world. I know that sometimes it feels pointless. I know that sometimes you feel lost. I know that you feel insignificant. I know that failure scares you. I know that sometimes it feels like you’re running fast and going nowhere. And I know that sometimes the question enters your mind, “Am I even doing the right thing?”

But honey, you know that you’re doing the right thing. Photography makes you come alive, so hold on to your passion. And you are creative. We all are. We all have it locked away inside of us, the ability to create. The only thing that differs from person to person is our passion. Because it is our passion that unlocks the creativity inside of us. It is our passion that brings it all to life. Our passion is the key. Your passion is what makes you pick up that camera to take a picture. Your passion is what makes you study every single image that meets your eye. Your passion is what makes you google every question you have until you find an answer. Your passion is the fire burning inside of you that makes you continuously come back to photography, that makes you never tire of it. You’re full of passion, so don’t worry about the creativity. It’s there. And yes, you may be at the very beginning of your photography journey, you may have a long way to go before you catch up with the likes of the very best. But we all start somewhere. We are each born on this earth as equals. A body. A brain. A heart. We all have the same opportunities to learn, practice, create. And only you are in charge of how far and how quickly you go down your journey with photography. All you can do is your best.

You are wonderful. Did you know that? I admire you for your courage and your bravery. I love that you’re fighting so hard to do what you love. I love the way that you define success, because knowing you it means that you will always be successful. I love that you constantly question yourself and your perspective. I love that you try so hard to put yourself in other’s shoes. I love that you do your best to live outside of your comfort zone. I love how understanding you are with yourself and with your “failures” in life. I love that as indecisive as you are, you know exactly what kind of person you want to be, and you know exactly the kind of life you want to live. I love that you have found something in life that you love so much, that is so meaningful to you, and that you never let it rest. I love that your dreams are huge, but ever-growing and changing. You are always trying to transform and evolve as a person and as a photographer. I admire that about you. I love that you are so loving, so positive. I love that sometimes you are an emotional wreck for no apparent reason, but you always pull yourself together. I love that you do your best to appreciate each and every moment, because you understand that the now is what matters most. I love you.

Just always remember why you picked up a camera in the first place. Never forget that, and never lose that passion of yours. Never lose your drive or ambition. Never forget the beginning, and never lose sight of your dreams. Hold on tight, enjoy the ride. I’ll be right here with you, and we will figure it out.

Love always and forever!

From, yourself.

WOW. I think that everyone…no matter who they are, should write themselves a letter like this! No matter what profession or background, everyone could use something like this to look back on, especially on days that might seem like some of the hardest. To remind themselves of who they are and why they do what they do. This is so inspiring! I’m writing myself a letter tonight :) THank you! :) <3
